You rarely hear the media talk about individuals who have contracted Covid-19 and have survived. The majority of news outlets only tell you the numbers of new cases and the numbers of those who have passed away. Today's guest is one of those survivors.
Jerry Salas is resilient and a man of faith. He is a musician, a Vietnam Vet, has survived prostate cancer and most recently spend 48 days in ICU fighting the Covid-19 virus. He survived that battle even after spending 40 days in a coma. In this episode Jerry talks about his experience, the support he received from his family, fans and the brave doctors and nurses who cared for him.
Jerry has also been with his band, El Chicano, since the mid '70's touring the world, releasing amazing music like "Tell Her She's Lovely" and also working on his own music projects. One of which being the non-profit organization, Rock For Vets. He shares some great stories including his connection with Burton Cummings of the Guess Who, some unreleased music that needs to see the light of day, playing in front of 100,000 plus fans and the effect music has on an audience.
We'd like to than musicians Joey Navarro and Rene Camacho for putting us in touch with Jerry. It was one of those conversations that I know everyone will enjoy.
